A Mixed Bag. Phillip Lim's Spring 2016 collection on the whole was a worthwhile excursion into some pretty fashion territory, but was a bit scattered and all over the place and definitely had some unfortunate sartorial moments that came off as clumsy and maladroit amongst the primarily fine collection. Skipping past the better left undiscussed source material for the collection that involved dirt and compost (so much so that Lim had mounds of it on the runway... Pardon?) Lim presented a collection that was in places incredibly delightful and presented a unique and artsy vision of romantic/sportif dressing that had some interesting and memorable high moments juxtaposed against some seriously head scratching design choices in some exits.
On the whole, this was a modernistic yet poetically lyrical treatise by Lim, one that mined gold in the less fussy and overworked nooks and crannies, because it was quite over designed in many ways. In fact the most successfully wrought outfit was a diaphanous yet substantial White Pinstripe storm coat paired with Black leggings and a sportif White Organza top. Flirting the line between athletic and poetic, the outfit was the apotheosis of Lim's aesthetic and extolled the best virtues of the showing.
That's All.
