Givenchy.

Sun. 03/02/2014.

In what could only be described as a Contrapuntal play on Hard and Soft, Ricardo Tisci propositioned for Fall 2014 a Less Artifice heavy collection and one that Played games with his signature Strict style while letting some Organic Fluidity into the mix also. Tisci was still in his Modus Operandi, but seemed to be investigating different facets of it. There was a play of Fragility and Power that was obvious with the opening Trio of Soft, Filmy dresses that could have come off as Romantic but somehow didn't. If there was any Romance in them, It had a Steely Backbone of Jadedness to it!

After this little Moment of Femininity, Tisci was back in Androgyne territory, and as familiar as it is for Tisci, it looked new here, However it didn't look less Tiresome either. As Tisci began Vacillating from Soft to Hard the collection felt At odds with itself, as if it could never truly settle on an Identity of what it wanted to be. In different hands, That could have lead to some great Epiphany about Duality, Tisci's hands made it feel Aimless and Shallow.

Good ideas were presented here, but nothing could save this collection. It felt as if  was destined for failure and it arrived there well early. Too much Teeter-Tottering between the filmy dresses and the Masculine coats and pants left this collection feeling Soulless. It wasn't enough to even dislike. It was just.... There. Tisci is capable of Great things, Just this collection didn't feel like it was inspired by something Great to start with. Maybe I am in the Minority. But for me, Just too much going on that was Signifying Nothing!

That's All.
