"Si Oiseau J'Etais, A Toi Je Volerais"
"Were I A Bird, I'd Fly To You" That's the quote that came to mind when I saw Alberta Ferretti's Lovely and Disarmingly Intricate Fall 2014 Collection Inspired by Nature and more exclusively Birds outside her Bedroom Window. This translated into all kinds of Feathered Finery and Lavishly Detailed Pieces. This also brought something of a Decadent Sensory Overload to many of the pieces for Ferretti piled it on sometimes to the Nth degree. From the Opulently Feathered opener to the Heavily Embellished Dress of Exit No. 4 with it's Feather Print Silk Ornately textured with Embroidery, Ferretti showed she was in a mood to Exercise the skills of her ateliers with Taxing and Demanding work.
This sense of Unfettered Excess did give rise to some unfortunate moments where things were just too laden with Surface Detail that they began to sink under their own Richesse. But, Ferretti is no Newbie and those moments were Mercifully few, but sadly when they did occur were Bombastically Overwrought! There were some beauties in here that were so Magnificent they were Scary, The Lichen Green Lace and Chiffon gown on Lexi Bolling at Exit No. 10 was Magical in so many ways and the Imperial coat on Elisabeth Erm at Exit No. 21 was one of those pieces that is going to Steal Women's Hearts all over! Also worth noting was the simple dress of Burlap Coloured Felted Alpaca with fringed edgesat Exit No. 24 was Superbly cut and had Couture Swagger in the Old Style sense with it's Inverted Pleat in front and Detailed Seams. A Rousing Success.
Ferretti came through with a Collection of Intense Technical Merit and Exuberantly Extrovert detailing that put together equaled out to a Performance of Unparalleled Mastery. This one collection that Ferretti can reflect upon with Utter Pride. She Outdid Herself. Talk about a Flight of Fancy!
That's All.
Bye4Now!
