Opening Ceremony.

It was A Mixed Bag for Humberto Leon and Carol Lim At Opening Ceremony for Fall 2014. Lim and Leon have catapulted to the forefront of fashion with their efforts at Kenzo and their Hip, Of-The-Minute store that also bears their Labels name, But where they have Kept the fires stoked at Kenzo with Cool, Hip Fashion, at their own label they have struggled with Direction and maintaining the Vision of the collection. This is only their second show, so the unevenness can be forgiven, but this offering was a bit more wayward than last season.

Asymmetry was one of the major ideas as well as a Swirling Fingerprint Whorl Print. These were inserted amongst the Great Outerwear and Sporty more risky Sculptural pieces and angled zipper pieces which were not as successful as the Duo might have hoped. A Blue Skirt suit was much more successful at Exit No. 27. The final Quartet of pieces decorated with Giant Ombre Sequin Polka Dots were Especially Cool and Fun, Exit No. 34 particularly.

Leon and Lim will keep their visibility high with this further continuation of their brand aesthetic, and really for newcomers to the Defile Business they can be expected to produce some less successful showings, it's par for the course. One can be sure that this is only a Bump in a long and successful road ahead of them!
