Luxury, Thy name is The Row. It may seem cheeky, but The Olsen's Have crafted a label that is the utter personification of Absolute and Extravagant Luxury. Imbued with Mary-Kate and Ashley's own Urban Boho sense of style, the label has evolved quickly and definitively over the period of Four years and have established the Twin duo as having the Most Serious of Serious Fashion Chops! Fall 2014 may just well be the best thing they have produced so far, Hands Down!
The collection was about Urban Comfort. Coziness and Nuzzly materials (Two of the Prevailing trends coming out of Fall 2014) and an almost Cocooning effect! It was an accomplished effort of the highest order. Super Comfy Knits and the most Fabulous Disgustingly Rich and Lavish materials all combined to bring this to a Fever Pitch of Indulgence! The tunic sweaters and asymmetric wrap skirts that opened the show Looked Humble but were so far from it that it bordered on Shocking! They were Winter ready or ready for a Cool evening in the Hamptons!
The Olsen Twins also showed more so than ever in this collection that they know how to convey how to tailor a garment to perfection! A Puritanically simple Black Coat at Exit No. 6 with an Oversized Flap collar was just this side of Immaculate! The pale Champagne Beige combo that followed was Ready for the World too. Damn the Polar Vortex in these pieces!
Exit No. 8 had an Old-School Calvin feel to it with it's Spectacularly cut Long Coat Jacket and fluid skirt! The duo also have shown in this collection that they are Tailors to be reckoned with by showing some IMMACULATELY Cut Blazers and Jackets, the Smoke Grey suit of Exit No. 10 should show that in spades, also Exit No. 18 should do the same, A Skinny Pinstripe Pantsuit that was giving Galliano/McQueen Brilliance! An Ivory Creme roll collar dress at Exit No. 23 was the Epitome of Ascetic Precision and the Finale evening piece had the Majesty of Cristobal in it and was one of the most amazing things I have seen come from the House the Olsen's built, or for that matter any fashion house!
This collection was a Tour de Force of Precise Purity and Magnificent Judgement. It was one of those collections that Made you a Believer in the Power that REAL Fashion, Really Well Thought Out, Inspired, Considered Fashion, Can move you like great Art, be that Music or Sculpture or Painting or Cinema or a Book... This was one of those shows that Transcended mere Clothing. With it's Monastic view, one might say, it was Religious! I could see the Almighty Swathed in The Row Fall 2014... Definitely!
