Carolina Herrera.

Mon. 02/10/2014.

It was a Highly Accomplished showing for Ms. Carolina Herrera for Fall 2014. It was also, perhaps, one of her most idiosyncratic offerings in some, if not all, time. But that's what made it shine. It was Ballsy. It was also a little unexpected from the Queen of Chic! I Love Unexpected!

The prevailing positions Ms. Herrera took for this collection was a strong Emphasis on Graphic Print and on Graphic Shape. In the case of Shape, that played out in pieces that were more rounded and enveloping or fell away from the body in Old-Style Couture shapes, which Herrera's Atelier handled deftly and with Aplomb! As for the Prints, well, Herrera didn't go for obviously noticeable graphics, everything was an abstraction of Geometrics and Shapes that from afar looked Dizzyingly Precise and up close were exactly that, even more so. some were less ordered, but they all looked fresh and surprisingly wearable, if not a trifle eccentric.

Though, it wasn't the prints that really got the blood pumping, it was Herrera's usual brilliance in creating Captivatingly desirable Clothes for the Woman who lives a life of Luxury. These are not EVERYDAY Clothes for most Women! These are Expensive, Luxuriant, Dynamic clothes for a Dynamic Clientele. Take all that Fur being thrown around, from Mink and Broadtail to Fox and Sable! These are approachable for the everyday lady. And that's a most excellent thing, for it creates aspiration, and this was one helluva collection to aspire to!

Herrera got things off to a 60's Couture influenced start on Karlie Kloss with the Elongated Fez hat and Cocoon Jacket and Pencil skirt. After that, Lindsay Wixson in a Broadtail Dress with a stand collar showed that this was to be a 60's take on the now but not the Mod 60's more of the Bourgeoisie 60's, which is refreshing in the UTMOST! It was a little Alta Moda/La Dolce Vita, A Little Balenciaga/YSL. And All Magical!

Standout Pieces were aplenty. A Liquid Mulberry Coloured gown on Maria Borges at Exit No. 9 was A Stunner (By the by, I love how Herrera does her Run-Of-Show mixing Day and Evening up, She does it best of anyone in Fashion! Her instincts of what to show when are Unimpeachable!) or try the Following Sapphire Blue Swing jacket and skinny pant Ensemble which was one of the best pieces in the entire collection and one of the best of the season.

The Salt-And-Pepper Tweed and Knit cowl neck tunic over an embroidered pencil skirt at Exit No. 13 was Shooting off sparks, as was Grey Kimono sleeve coat on Cora Emmanuel at Exit No. 19! But by far the Winner was the Tomato Red Double Breasted A-Line cropped coat with the Huge band of Fur over Puce coloured Skinny Pants of Exit No. 31 that took the Cake and left The Frosting! It was A Marvel! A Brightly Printed Cady Gown that followed and Buttoned asymmetrically up the front was also truly worth mentioning because of it's Spring like Nature!

Ending on Cheetah Slinky Karlie Kloss, Herrera showed a Tomato Red Stunner that ANY woman walking in a room wearing that gown would capture all the eyes in the room! It was Sin-Sational! With that closing move, Herrera stamped her collection shut and proved why she is still one of the BIGGEST Power players in the Fashion world. She is A Force not to be taken for Granted and has weathered almost 40 years in the fashion wars... She's Fashion Royaltly! Long May She Reign!

That's All.
