Narciso Rodriguez.
Impeccable! That's all you need to utter to describe Narciso Rodriguez's Exemplary Fall 2014 dissertation! Rodriguez showed such Crystal Clear intention with clothes that were Made for the Women of Metropolises! Sharp, Efficient, Fast, Clean, Precise! No Fuss, No Frills, No Excess! Lean And Mean and Warrior Strong! It's become kind of his Niche that he perfects again and again, but not until recently has it actually looked all that good. Now.. It's Deliriously Lustful!
Starting with Searing Robin Red, Hey Fast and Efficient doesn't have to mean DRAB, that was somewhere in between Orange and Red, Rodriguez cut Spare and forgiving pieces such as a Slightly rounded Flat Front coat or Swingy Sheath that was as easy as a Tee, but no where near as simple. Now don't read Forgiving as Dumpy or Shapeless... these clothes had SHAPE, It's simply a testament to Rodriguez's Old School Tailoring and Cutting Skills that he can make these kind of pieces and they don't make women look Frumpy or Paunchy!
After this Brief exposition Rodriguez went Colour Mad with his Sleek, Almost Athletic version of Colour Blocking. The first a Red Sheath dress at Exit No. 3 that had Stripes/Blocks of a lighter version of the Colour that opened, Dustier even. It made for High Contrast, yet since the shape was so Spartan, they did not overwhelm. Rodriguez experimented with this for a few exits (Exit No. 4, A Spice colour coat with lapels of Riotous Robin red was a Smashing Success!) the again, Washed the Palate and Palette clean with the Unadorned Cleanliness of Black, White and Grey!
Here Rodriguez's Tailoring skills were off the charts. An Ivory Buttonless Blazer at Exit No. 10 had Graceful arcing seams across the front and a Gentle full-ish shape in the back. Or the Charcoal asymmetric Blazer on Grace Mahary at Exit No. 12 which was longer and a bit more relaxed but still Spectacular! And then the game was afoot again for Colour Blocking. It ran Fast and Thick onward to the end, Showing up in Gorgeous Juxtapositions. One of the Best on Kai Newman at Exit No. 17 in White and Ebony. A Slinky shift of a dress that could translate as a Day dress or a Downtown Evening piece! The best piece in the whole show though was Exit No. 21 on Tilda Lindstam. A SUBLIMELY Perfect LBD with a Single folded lapel... HAUNTING!
Ending with some Fastidiously Beaded Pieces that were Marvels of Embroidery, Narciso managed to Top himself from his Audaciously Fabulous Spring show. How, I cannot possibly began to say! But this collection was Giving EVERYTHING! Rodriguez proves why, with Shocking ease, he is one of the Greats. With collections like these continuing to flow forth, There will be not one Detractor to that Greatness!
That's All.
Bye4Now!
