John Galliano.

Sun. 03/02/2014.

Bill Gaytten finally seems Confident enough to express his Voice at the house of John Galliano and not Lament the terrible Exoneration of his longtime friend and former boss, He is with each collection starting from Fall 2013 on... Exorcising himself of any Guilt he may have been experiencing and now is Reworking The house of Galliano into his own Image. And Huzzah for him. It's good to see him embrace what it is that makes Gaytten... Gaytten! Eschewing the Signature Galliano Tropes and working in his own.

Fall 2014 saw Inspirations from the Society Maven Nancy Cunard to Industrial Designer Marc Newson. Diverse, Wouldn't you say? It mattered little, what did matter was the assured hand and Confident feel of the clothes which were less beholden to John's legacy that ever before... John, In a Billion Years would never design a Collection such as this! The painterly Velvets that Gaytten used to open the show, were the Antithesis of Pretty, but he made them look Pretty! Gaytten had a feeling for Swinging shapes and Bell-ish curves in his skirts and dresses that gave an Innocent Sexiness to them  Or they were Swishy and Fluid, like the Sickly, Splotchy coloured Velvets.

The Real Story to be told, was the Tailoring. Snappy, Sharp, Smart and Modern. Coats and Jackets Oozed with Fine Detail, one Deep Charcoal Grey suit with the Jacket's seams traced in beads, was Spectacular! And this wouldn't be a Galliano collection without a couple of stunning gowns... One in Nougat coloured Velvet was Heaven and the Penultimate gown on Nykhor Paul in Deep Grape Velvet and Georgette was Drop Dead AMAZING!

It's good to see Bill Gaytten Putting himself in the Spotlight. He is showing that he is talented enough to Continue the House of Galliano and shed the skin of John's Legacy and Create his Own. It will be interesting to see what that future looks like!

That's All.
