Nina Ricci.

Thurs. 02/27/2014.

Peter Copping is the Spiritual Twin of Alber Elbaz. Imagine for one second you didn't Know what show you were at, The Music Starts, The Models begin their procession, you're not sure what show you're seeing so all you have to go on is the clothes and the Histoire of the designer... Looking at this collection could it NOT BE, perhaps a Lanvin Collection? And look at a Lanvin collection, Not knowing it was Lanvin, Could it not Perhaps be a Nina Ricci Collection? A Trifle Frightening when you really look at it! Not to say that to any degree that they are Similar, But the roads that they Travel seem to be Awfully Parallel and Perversely at times, the clothes Magically Interchangeable! It's kinda Funny as well that they usually show... ON THE SAME DAY!

To Wit, This was a KNOCKOUT From Copping. It was full of Charm, Beauty, Femininity and a Fearlessness to be Womanly, Not Girlish. The clothes were, in places, Couture Worthy (P.S. Nina Ricci STARTED as a Couture House, Why not revive that and Let Copping REALLY Fly!??!) Copping started out taking inspirations from Interiors and the Decor of those interiors which would explain the Luxuriantly Damasked Backdrop of the set. This didn't translate as Lavishly and Extravagantly as one might think, Yes, there was a Luxury that was Inescapable but it wasn't Cloying of Baroque! Copping translated that into Modern permutations that still harbored the Luxe in it's DNA but was outwardly expressing it in more Reserved form.

From the Start, A Rippling Steel Grey Clutch coat on Anja Rubik with a shimmering dress under faintly printed in Snake pattern, Copping was setting an Quietly Opulent Mood. The suit that followed on Kati Nescher shows just how easily Copping could do Haute Couture (again, bringing up the reference, Lanvin was a Couture house as well and Elbaz would do just as Swimmingly as Copping in the Waters of the Haute!) That suit was, TO DIE! Having Soinge appeal aplenty it would make any woman wearing it a Star!

There was Much more to follow, An Absolutely Smashing Iridescent Lilac dress hit all the right notes of Delicacy and Gracefulness, while Black Zippered suit on Riley Montana was Precision Personified. A Soft Watercolour floral section was Gay and full of Delight, especially at Exit No. when matched with a Hulking Old Rose coloured fur that was as Buoyant as a Balloon!

Outfit after Outfit poured forth and Captivated to the point of Weeping. A Section of Black Evening wear was an Endless Parade of the Inexplicably Beautiful, One on Andreea Diaconu was Orgasmically Incredible. The show ended with a Trio of Sheer Embellished Lace gowns that never for One Millisecond were Trashy or Vulgar and had a Naive, Maiden like sweetness to them that seemed to be imbued in this entire collection.

Copping won the Day with this Masterpiece. It was EVERYTHING a Fashion collection should be, Inventive, Fresh, Beautiful, Youthful, Gorgeous, Superlatives Abound! Copping seems to be finding an even Deeper Niche to the already Cavernous one he has carved out at Nina Ricci. He is moving into a new Strata of Amazing. It's going to be Genuinely Breath Stealing to be Travelling with him to wherever he is Headed!

That's All.

Bye4Now!
