Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco Surely seem to be hitting their Stride as of late. With a Stunner of a Spring collection behind them, they come back just as strong, Maybe Stronger, for Fall 2014. The Duo showed a most Fantastic collection of Luxurious, Sexy, Strong clothes with a slightly Unexpected Cool, Icy Space-Age Edge to it. That Spaciness was Entirely Welcome and accomplished in Sharp ways.
Opening with a Sleek and Angular White Wrap dress was the First Volley with Futuristic appeal. White is one of the Strongest Points in any Kaufmanfranco Dialogue and it didn't fail them in any Way, Shape or Form here in this Fall outing. A coat with wide Single lapels at Exit No. 3 worn over Skinny, SKINNY Pants was Spare, but spoke Volumes. A totally Terrific Backless Jumpsuit at Exit No. 7 was Precision Personified! As was the Supple Crocodile Mini shift top at Exit No. 11 winning Favour in Spades!
There was Absolutely SO MUCH to choose from that was Spectacular that it's hard to pin down exactly what to highlight! Is it the Mink Tunic coat in Black stamped to Mimic Croc with Leather Legging Pants at Exit No. 14? Or how about the Salt and Pepper Herringbone Fur Wrap coat at Exit No. 18? Maybe it was ANYTHING in the Section of Frost Blue outfits... Be it the Funnel Neck Felted Coat of Exit No. 24, or the Buoyant Fishscale sequined Strapless Bubble dress that looked as Fragile as Molten Glass at Exit No. 27, perhaps? What about the Slinky slip gown with the Featherweight open knit sweater shrugged on over it that Gave off a whiff of 90's Grunge?
A Black Fishscale Sequin Ballgown at Exit No. 36 was as Liquid as the Frost Blue Number that had preceded it but had far more Drama of the Ralph Rucci Kind and was Drop Dead ASTOUNDING! As were the Final two gowns that had the Quicksilver Flash of Liquid Metal pouring Down the Models bodies and were achieved in the most Impossibly Fluid application of Bugle Beads I have ever Witnessed in My Entire Life!
This is the kind of collection that makes the Heart Beat Faster and one's Breath Catch in their Chest. It was Brilliant. It was Amazing. Kaufman and Franco are poised to make their names Household within the next few season, It is Crucial they do not lose this Exquisite Momentum they have and keep producing Blockbusters like this! For if they Do. They will be the Newest Superstar Duo that the New York Fashion Star System will have Produced. In My Opinion, Couldn't happen to a more Talented, or more Deserving, Pair!
