Reed Krakoff.

Weds. 02/12/2014.

Reed Krakoff for Fall 2014 was feeling a Lighter, more Unencumbered sense of Self. There was, mayhaps, a newfound sense of Self-Discovery as well that freed him this season. Whatever the case may be, Krakoff was speaking in a Somewhat firmer tone of voice and getting in touch with what he REALLY wanted to Show and Design, Now that he is unshackled from the Coach Teat, he can confidently assert what it is that stimulates him, Fashionably speaking, that is! As when anyone is let free from a more inhibited way of being and left to run Wild and Free and alone with one's own distractions... there can be some mistakes made. So, where Krakoff's Collection may have been more reflective of him, now with no one looking over his shoulders and Tut-Tutting him, Keeping risk taking to a Minimum, there were also some weak areas.

Krakoff has always been obsessed with Asymmetry, here it came in the form of difficult looking skirts that seemed to wrap and fall in not necessarily Pretty and Angular ways. Couple that with some Mind Reeling Patchworking in Optic Dots and Circles and Python (Real Skin and Prints) and things got Real Confusing, Real Fast! The mantra that should be being hummed by all this season so far is, Keep It Simple. No one seems to following that and they are faltering greatly because of it.When Krakoff DID simplify things, He hit Home Run After Home Run!

Early On, he hit upon the formula, but still the exploratory bug bit him and he wandered and careened out of bounds. Exit No. 3 was one of the things done right, An angled Python Wrap skirt with a Powdery Orchid colour Sweater on top. That was enough there to induce Lustful Desire! Exit No. 10 showed Krakoff's Skill at making something utterly Covetous out of something Simple. While the Charcoal Grey Pantsuit at Exit No. 12 had just enough of a Twist of Originality to make it stand out among the crowd!

As things continued forth, Krakoff's Artistic side began to get the better of him and especially in a section dominated by Royal Blue and Ultramarine Blue, things went way off the rails, Save one Splendid Moment on Imaan Hammam in Blush Pink at Exit No. 27, It was an Impeccable Moment! Krakoff's collection for Fall stumbled along the way, but it was Original and Daring, That is to be commended. That some of the outfits felt a bit Contrived and Overworked, They still were doing their job and making a Statement!

That's All.

Bye4Now!
