Giles.

Mon. 02/17/2014.

Giles Deacon was perhaps the Surprise of the entire Season with how Far to Left field he positioned himself with his Fall 2014 collection. It was a Radical shift in perspective and seemed as if Deacon was trying to Broaden his Horizons and not be known as the Archly Romantic, Wildly Eccentric designer he has become known to be. It would have been nice if it had been a Success. But, It Wasn't. Shifting gears as he did was not conducive to a Stellar Showing, It left the collection shaky and a Lot Unfocused.

There were nice pieces, Yes, but they felt a Whole Helluva lot less Insanely Inspired than past productions from Deacon, Here in the attempt to be more, Modern, Urban, Deacon lost the Kooky Specialness that made him such a Joy to behold! The whole Tough vibe Deacon was working felt Quite Disingenuous. When he was threading his Kooky, Eccentric, Arty, Romantic/Dark Needle, His vision was Clear and Pure. The sad thing is there was very little of that to be found this Go-Round.

The usage of the Colour Orange was a Beautiful statement as was the Bird Print which was Gloriously Pretty. There was Sweater Dressing, Moto Dressing, and... well it's kind of hard to say! Whatever Deacon was hoping to convey felt hopelessly lost in the Mediocrity. I'd pick out certain pieces, but none were really even up to snuff enough to conjure the effort. The same could be said for the pieces that were lacking, they were actually terrible, just unmemorable. In fashion terms, Unmemorable is a Fate worse than Death!

That's All.
