Thom Browne.

Mon. 02/10/2014.

Thom Browne.

First, I will say, I cannot possibly individualize the Clothes from Thom Browne's Collection for Fall 2014. Trying to Describe, or more appropriately, Decipher, the individual pieces would be an exercise in Madness. And perhaps, would ruin the intrinsic Brilliance of the work. Browne's Work shouldn't try to be Qualified with Superlatives or Prose. They exist in a different realm than that! They are a Pure Fantasy. In the way, in their More Enfant Terrible Days, Gaultier and Galliano and McQueen and Berardi and Chalayan pieces were. Clothes that are only meant to Provoke. If some Fierce Warrior Woman takes it upon herself Swath her form in these pieces, She is set on making a Statement and has a Mighty Huge set of Brass Ones! She also though has an appreciation not only of Browne's work, but of her own Persona to be able to not be overtaken by such work and lose herself in the Outlandishness of the Outfit.

So, Onto the work. Browne's Obvious starting point was something Liturgical, Whether it Was Catholic or Anglican or Puritan, it seems less important which it was than that there was something going on that alluded to Vestments of the Cloth! Yet, which Place of worship would these Hourglass Shaped Doyennes be welcome? They would be far too Inflammatory in any House of Penitence!

Browne's Plays on Volume and Shape and the Exaggeration of those aspects was at once, Audacious as well, Frightening. No one could doubt there was a Sinister, Dominatrix Swagger to some of these outfits that one could feel these Gals had Punishment on their minds. Theirs or Yours, Who Can Say!? The real catch here was how Beautifully Executed the Surreality of these pieces were, Browne has a Couture hand that cannot be denied and that he decides to exercise that hand with such gravitas, Just goes to show that Browne is more about The craft than many may realize through the Blatant Shenanigans of his Visions!

Is this a Review? In it's way, yes, But anything I could remotely say would PALE in comparison to viewing the clothes and making your own decisions. This kind of work Transcends Good or Bad, Beautiful or Ugly, Fashion or Fantasy. It exists in a Realm of it's own Creation, Where Thom Browne is not only King, but also... Jester!

That's All.

Bye4Now!
