House Of Holland.

Sat. 02/15/2014.

Henry Holland's Fall 2014 House of Holland Collection was Full of Cheek, But that Cheek didn't translate into CHIC. It looked actually, Cheap. This, in places, was a most Downmarket looking collection, and even though Holland was invoking his House "Harlots" they never looked like any kind of Harlot one would like to be around. From the Totally Tacky opening Salvo to the Garish Colour Palette, Holland only had brief moments of Lucidity among the Pyschedelica of the rest of the Output.

There was something Cartoonishly Fantastic about a Retina Frying combination of Maraschino Red and Highlighter Pink Vertical Sequins on an elongated T-Shirt dress at Exit No. 12 that could translate outside it's styling into something Provocatif on the right Social Starlet. And the Final Two evening exits, with their Multicolour Jigasw like Sequin/Sheer patterns had a Julien McDonald bit of Trashy Glamour to them, but could again, with the right styling, be a Red Carpet Zinger! The Finale on Betty Adewole was Most Pleasingly Good!

Sadly though, no matter how good four or five outfits are, they cannot save an Entire collection. And this one needed saving, Badly. It was just perhaps too much fun for it's own good and Real, True Design was forgotten about. Seems Henry Holland got lost in his own Playland, Maybe next time around, he'll take himself a Compass!

That's All.
